17 Medal War Vet Denies Being Fraudster
Shameless conman would have to be a “world famous Rambo” to receive so many distinctions.
An accused fraudster who marched in a Remembrance Parade wearing an astonishing array of 17 service medals alongside 600 war veterans could face criminal charges.
Roger Day insists that he was a member of the SAS and that his medals are all genuine however, despite military officials branding his collection “impossible”.
Mr Day attended the Bedworth Remembrance Parade in Warwickshire this November decorated with medals including the Distinguished Service Order, the Military Cross, the South Atlantic Medal and the Kuwaiti Liberation Medal. Mr Day’s collection aroused suspicion as it included medals from both World War II and the first Gulf War, conflicts which occurred 45 years apart.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, RAF squadron leader Martin Harrison described the medal collection as ridiculous and ludicrous. “He would be world-famous – and some sort of Rambo character – if he had been awarded them all,” Mr Harrison said.

Mr Day denied allegations that he was a fraudster: “They’re all proper, pukka campaign medals. Medals I won in conflicts while I was serving with the British forces. All I can say is South Atlantic the Gulf, Kuwait and one or two other stations.” He said the Official Secrets Act prevented him from revealing more information.
Stories emerged that Mr Day had been ejected from a local pub after being challenged by a serviceman over his military credentials. “One of the lads who was a soldier pulled him up on it because no one from the regiment would ever wear an official pin badge in a non-military capacity,” a local said. After getting very aggressive, Mr Day was asked to leave the premises.
If charged Mr Day could face a £1,000 fine for fraud.

If he’s not genuine he can easily be charged with both The Army Act 1955 and The Uniform Act 1894. I hope he wears all his medals when he’s in the dock, we’ll all be fascinated to hear what he has to say.

He should be sent to help in the war zone now so he can learn what we went through.
