Conspiracy theorist who wanted to expose a US government cover-up was shot dead outside the Pentagon.
A gunman who believed the US government were involved in a huge cover up surrounding the New York terror attacks on 9-11, was shot dead after he started opening fire on security guards at the Pentagon.
John Patrick Bedell died in hospital after the guards returned fire and neutralised the threat posed by the conspiracy theorist.
Two security guards were injured in the fire fight but neither are in a fatal condition.
The Pentagon’s chief of police, Richard Keevill announced to the press that the guards were taken by surprise by the unexpected and unprovoked assault: “There was no distress. When he reached into his pocket, they assumed he was going to get a pass and he came up with a gun. He wasn’t pretending to be anyone. He was wearing a coat and walked up and just started shooting,” reported the Daily Mail.
Mr Keevill said that the Pentagon’s layers of security had worked and that there had been no immediate danger to anyone working inside the building. The gunman was swiftly downed as the guards returned fire from the assailant.
Mr Bedell, 36, from California posted on an internet forum that he was “determined to see that justice is served,” after the death of Marine Colonel James Sabow was classified as suicide. Mr Bedell was adamant that Colonel Sabow’s death was part of a larger government conspiracy which was also linked to the tragic events of the demolition of the Twin Towers in 2001.
Mr Bedell had previously railed against the government for preventing the legalisation of marijuana.
