Apple Fail to Cover Up Exploding iPod Shocker
British father will not be silenced by iPod manufacturers.
Technology giant Apple entered PR hell after it emerged that the company had try to silence a father and his daughter to cover up an exploding iPod.
Eleven year old Ellie Stanborough was alarmed when her Dad dropped her iPod and it started hissing. Feeling the electronic device getting dangerously warm, Mr Stanborough heroically launched the iPod like a grenade out of the back door before it promptly exploded jumping 10 feet into the air.
Speaking to The Times, Mr Stanborough related the events as they unfolded: “I could feel it getting hotter in my hand, and I thought I could see vapour,” he said, before throwing the device out of the house, “within 30 seconds there was a pop, a big puff of smoke and it went 10ft in the air”.
Mr Stanborough got in touch with both manufacturers Apple and retailers Argos seeking a refund for the £162 spent on the gadget. After going through various departments from both companies without any success, Mr Stanborough was eventually offered a full refund from Apple provided he signed a confidentiality contract.
Apple were trying to buy the Stanborough’s silence to avoid negative PR for the company. In a letter written to Mr Stanborough from Apple one clause read that he must: “agree that you will keep the terms and existence of this settlement agreement completely confidential,” of face to prospect of legal charges. Mr Stanborough refused to sign the agreement.
Mr Stanborough said he was “appalled” and that he wasn’t seeking compensation for what happened, he merely wanted his money back. Apple could now have another scare on their hands, following the huge recall of lithium ion batteries back in 2006 which were catching fire and last year’s warnings from Japan after 14 iPod Nanos caught fire through overheating.

Greetings.
OMG!! I didn’t think this could happen? Why?
OL, Eli
