Apple Go Down Hard on 5000 Sexy Apps

5000 apps banned but Playboy and Sports Illustrated survive.

Apple have caused a hell of a stir online by banning 5,000 sexy apps which it now deems to be inappropriate content for its app store because of “overtly sexual content”.

The company are notorious for being inconsistent with their application process in the past, having previously allowed borderline porn apps such as “Asian Boobs” whilst at the same time banning satirical cartoons which include sexual references.

However, hypocrisy reached new heights this week as Apple banned many apps including Tight Body Perky Boobs and Toilet Paper Babes, but shamelessly promoted sexually charged apps such as Playboy’s app.

5 Sexy Apps That Avoided Apple Ejection

Sports Illustrated

Hot swimsuit models are fine so long as they come from a major global company like Time Warner.

Playboy

Playboy Bunnies are apparently not “overtly sexual”. And Tara Reid? Nope. Definitely not smoking hot rampaging sex bomb. No siree.

iKamasutra

“Pie in the Sky” may be pretty sexually explicit but stick-figure sex doesn’t count.

Adult Sex Life

This is presumably ok by Apple’s standards as an educational app – bring on the learning!

Adult Brick Lite

Break the bricks to reveal the hot girls, what could be more harmless?

What makes Apple’s move particularly ridiculous is that they already have age restrictions and parental control on iPhones, so why ban certain apps in the name of making stuff safe for kids. Equally, there seems to be no consistency with the ban, where Victoria’s Secret All Access bikini’s were allowed to continue in the app store, but The Simply Beach app which also sells bikinis was banned.

More to the point, as TechCrunch was only too happy to point out, if all kids were after was easy access to porn, their quickest gateway is to use Apple’s own Safari app to browse the internet unfettered for images, videos and information to fulfil their wildest teenage desires. Don’t expect Safari, or Bing for that matter to be banned any time in the near future however.
