Batman and Robin Officially Worst Movie Ever
Empire readers vote in their thousands to confirm Clooney’s Batman the worst ever on screen.
Batman & Robin has been voted the worst movie ever made by thousands of film-buffs after Empire magazine ran a poll to discover the 50 Worst Movies Ever.
Storming ahead of some truly disastrous competition, the Dynamic Duo of George Clooney and Chris O’Donnell managed to acquire almost three times as many votes as their nearest competitor, John Travolta’s epic fail Battlefield Earth.
With the Batman franchise so beautifully handled by Christopher Nolan in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, it’s easy to forget how close Batman & Robin came to destroying DC’s superhero altogether.

Batman & Robin had so much momentum behind it, yet has become the epitome of “franchisicde”.
Other textbook franchise killing movies also made Empire’s list, with Spider-man 3 (50), Blade Trinity (45), Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (40), and Speed 2 (24) all making the top 50. None even came close to Joel Schumacher’s horrific imaginings for Batman & Robin.

Whilst individually, George Clooney (Ocean’s Eleven), Chris O’Donnell (The Three Musketeers), Arnold Schwarzenegger (The Terminator) and Uma Thurman (Kill Bill) have all proven they can make enjoyable movies, together the cast dragged Batman into a writhing pit of clichéd crap.

Complete with the now infamous Bat-nipples and a catalogue of dodgy ice-related puns from Schwarzenegger’s Mr Freeze, Batman & Robin sunk to new lows in appeasing the lowest common denominator for over-hyped action and ridiculous catchphrases.
Oh, and of course there was the Bat Credit Card – yes, a BAT, CREDIT CARD. The Nostalgia Critic beautifully captures the rage and sorrow of thousands of Batman fans dying inside as they watched that scene.
In a double whammy of disappointment for John Travolta this week, Battlefield Earth is also hotly tipped to win the Razzie for worst movie of the decade, although there is strong competition from Freddy Got Fingered, Gigli, Swept Away and I Know What Killed Me.

Nothing can beat Street Fighter’s acting, plot and script. It’s just too bad to be true.

John Travolta never had a hope of successfully bringing the fantastic B.E. novel to life. The story was HUGE and had far too much information to be able to include in a single movie about it. I get the feeling Travolta was more interested in creating a lasting movie memory to the book’s author Hubbard (creator of Scientology) than really bringing a damn good story to fruition.
Don’t let the Scientology part put you off though… none of that nonsense shows up in the novel. Read the book and THEN watch the movie. It actually makes sense and is far more enjoyable.

I would have to say that as bad as Batman & Robin was, it is still better than anything Uwe Boll has commited to film!

This is indeed by far the worst Batman film ever created. Created probably being too strong a word: shat out is more accurate.
One thing I will say is that there is a certain perverse kind of enjoyment to be had in watching this film since it is so awful. You find yourself willing on the next horrible pun or clunky string of dialogue, just to marvel at how bad a bunch of professionals can make a film.
