Burberry Catwalk Follows Avatar 3D Success
London fashion brand jumps into digital revolution with 3D catwalk.
3D technology will spread its wings in fashion this month jumping into the slipstream of James Cameron’s Avatar and recent sporting events shown by O2 and Sky, Burberry has decided to launch a 3D catwalk.
The technology has been around for years, but Avatar has sparked a new obsession with 3D which is difficult to avoid. Burberry’s announcement whilst intriguing can hardly be said to be wholly unexpected.

Donning the special 3D specs, fashion-lovers will be able to view the latest autumn/winter 2010 collection from Burberry in 3D at The Chelsea College of Art on 23 February 2010. The event will also be streamed live to special Burberry venues in New York, Paris, Dubai and Tokyo.
As yet there is no confirmation if Harry Potter star Emma Watson will feature in the 3D extravaganza for the fashion brand.

Burberry designer and chief creative officer Christopher Bailey told The Daily Telegraph: “3D technology will bring our global audience into the London show space allowing them to see the colours and fabrics, to hear the music and to be a part of that moment when it all finally comes together.”

Although the 3D element adds its own panache to the event, Burberry is also breaking new ground by making its fashion show more accessible to everyday high street buyers. The new collection will be streamed live online in normal 2D and viewers will be able to see the latest Burberry designs on Facebook and Twitter in real time.
“We are very excited to announce that we are hosting the first truly global fashion show. This unprecedented event will enable people to experience the energy and atmosphere of this event from around the world,” Mr Bailey revealed.
If you missed the Spring/Summer collection from Burberry this should give you a taste of the design range.
