Champions League Last 16 Draw Announced

Clash of the Titans with Liverpool drawing Real Madrid.

The Champions League draw has just been made with some mouth-watering prospects for football fans.

The last 16 finished their final group stage matches last week and today they found out who they would face in the first of the two leg knock out rounds.

The first legs of each draw will take place on 24 and 25 February, with the return legs happening on 10 and 11 March 2009.

The Champions League Draw:

Chelsea v Juventus

Villarreal v Panathinaikos

Sporting Lisbon v Bayern Munich

Atletico Madrid v FC Porto

Lyon v Barcelona

Real Madrid v Liverpool

Arsenal v Roma

Inter Milan v Manchester United

Top billing must surely go to the Liverpool v Real Madrid match where Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez will be pitted against his former club.

Both teams are in sparkling form this season and although Liverpool have hit a bit of a slump in the run up to Christmas they never fail to deliver in the Champions League.

Manchester United have once again been drawn against Inter Milan. The current European Champions are set for a battle of the psyche outs in chief tacticians Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho.

Although there are no weak teams left in the competition, French Champions Lyon must have had a sinking feeling when they were drawn against Barcelona, the in form side of the tournament so far and a firm favourite to lift the trophy this year.

The past months of struggling through the group stages are over, now the real test can start to ultimately decide who is Europe’s top club.

I am a Chelsea fan and consider it for life. We are winning Liverpool home and away as a revenge of Premiership.
