Tragic demise of Hollywood “shining star” of Clueless, Sin City and 8 Mile.
Hollywood was rocked yesterday by the sad news of the death of one of its young starlets, Brittany Murphy.
The American actress from New Jersey died yesterday in hospital at 10:04 (18:04 GMT) near her home in Beverly Hills after falling unconscious in the shower from a reported cardiac arrest. Brittany was just 32 years old.
So far the death is being treated as “natural” but the Los Angeles Police Department have opened a formal investigation into Ms Murphy’s death and toxicology tests have been taken to determine what may have caused the heart attack. Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said that Ms Murphy’s medical history was being examined for further evidence.
“I’ve always seen myself as one of those ‘show people.’ My earliest memories are wanting and needing to entertain people, like a gypsy traveller who goes from place to place, city to city, performing for audience and reaching people,” the actress said of herself.
She certainly did reach people, with a career that spanned 22 years, Brittany Murphy will be fondly remembered for her roles in iconic teen comedy Clueless as well as performances in 8 Mile, Girl Interrupted and Sin City.
Tributes came flooding in from well-wishers, some notable ones from stars on Twitter included Jessica Simpson, Ashton Kutcher and Alicia Silverstone.
Clueless co-star Alicia wrote: “I’m so saddened to hear this news. I loved working with Brittany. She was so talented, so warm and so sweet. I always felt so connected to her as we shared a very special experience in our lives together. I feel love in my heart for her and hope she is at peace.”
Physically and spiritually beautiful and not emotionally strong enough to live through all the crap that Hollywood or the rest of society threw at them.
Rest in peace – the other side may be kinder.
