Crowe’s ALIVE! Russell Crowe Did NOT Die in Austria

Russell Crowe Did Not Die in Austria

Hoax death report squashed by Crowe on Twitter.

Russell Crowe killed rumours circulating online of his untimely demise with a droll tweet to his followers.

“Unable to answer tweets fell off a mountain in Austria, all over red rover. Don’t know how i got there, but the media are never wrong. G’Bye,” he wrote.

The star of Gladiator and Robin Hood was the victim of fake death reports which started online yesterday claiming that the actor had had a tragic accident whilst filming for a new movie in Austria. Crowe is due to appear alongside Liam Neeson in The Next Three Days which is currently in post-production.

With the instantaneous exchange of information on social media platforms like Twitter, it didn’t take long before news of Russell Crowe’s death had spread virally all over the internet. It’s not exactly clear where the rumour was started, but the story was picked up by a host of entertainment blogs and even featured on New York radio station Z100.

The actor was alleged to have plunged 15 metres off a cliff edge in the Austrian mountain town of Kitzbuhel, a popular ski resort in the Alps. The Australian superstar confirmed he was alive and well however, ending speculation from the online media.

Russell Crowe joins other Hollywood A-listers who have been targeted by hoax death reports. Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, Matt Damon and Natalie Portman have all had to deal with the upsetting news of their own death. In June last year, Jeff Goldblum was the victim of an internet hoax which was circulated online and featured prominently online in Google News.
