Dawkins Prays for Pope Arrest

Atheists Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens are determined to bring the Pope to justice for crimes against humanity.

Prominent atheist writers Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens are gathering momentum in their campaign to get the Pope arrested when he visits the UK in September.

The authors, celebrated for works such as The God Delusion and God is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything have engaged human rights solicitors to press their case for the arrest of the Pope under “crimes against humanity”.

Pope Benedict XVI is a visiting dignitary from the Vatican, and as such would normally receive sovereign immunity from arrest. However, the legal claim put forward from Dawkins and Hitchens is that the Pope is not a head of state, and therefore cannot claim immunity.

Speaking to the Press Association, solicitor Mark Stephens said: “The courts will examine the claim of immunity. I believe that an English court would reject it. If the Pope was here on a state visit, ordinarily a head of state would have sovereign immunity. What I believe is that because he’s not a sovereign, not a head of state, he’s not entitled to the defence.”

The debacle began after it was unveiled that Pope Benedict was party to a church cover up involving a paedophile priest in America. In 1985 the then Cardinal wrote in a letter that the paedophile should not be punished for the “good of the universal church”.

Mr Hitchens said: “The institutionalised concealment of child rape is a crime under any law,” reported The Sun. The two writers hope that Crown prosecutors will bring a case of crimes against humanity against the Pope, or that the action will be taken to an International Criminal Court.

If he’s really the good atheist he says he is, to whom is he going to pray?

May the Pope get that which is coming to him if he was complicit.

Now, is the outrage and call for arrest really coming from the very same Richard Dawkins who argues that some are merely “gentle pedophiles” and that too much is made of some cases of pedophilia?

Oh yeah, and what do we do with all the freedom-hating, Jihad-propagating, genocidial people? Seriously, is the Pope the best they can do? Cos he is such an easy target.

That’s like saying Al Capone is an easy target.

Why wouldn’t you aim for the top of any given organization?
