Eminem Masters Twitter with Relapse

Controversial rapper bounces back into the limelight on social media.

If there were any doubt about whether controversial hip-hop star Eminem could cope in the new era of music, then those doubts have been answered.

The music industry has changed swiftly since Eminem’s last studio offering five years ago, and is very different from where it was when Marshal Mathers first burst onto the scene in 1999. The reliance on radio and MTV has now been replaced by a need for an online presence on Twitter and Facebook.

Eminem has always been gifted with an acute awareness of media which makes him savvy. His new teaser trailer for his forthcoming new single 3am which was released on Twitter this week ticks all the right boxes to get Marshal Mathers frenzy back on track.

Like him or loathe him, most people have at least a grudging respect for Eminem. His unprecedented break into an exclusively Black niche group of musicians can be likened to the assent of Sammy Davis Jr. into the upper echelons of comedy. Eminem transformed rap music from being about “Bitches and Benjamins” to something altogether more real, intelligent and relevant.

Now Eminem is doing his thing whilst using the tools of the times, he doesn’t miss a beat – literally.

Eminem’s new album Relapse is due for release next month, with a sequel album nearing completion for release before the end of this year. The debut track from Relapse, We Made You has already managed to cause a stir. In classic Eminem style, We Made You analyses the celebrity obsessed trends of pop-culture and mercilessly ridicules them, satirising Britney Spears, Amy Winehouse and Sarah Palin to name a select few.

In the words of the esteemed artist himself: “Guess who’s back? Back again. Shady’s back. Tell a friend.”

I’m a huge Em fan and think he’s a genius.

It’s a misconception that it’s him creating the online viral buzz though, lol.

He’s got people to do it for him. Like Paul Rosenberg and co.

Em has said himself that he doesn’t even know how to use a computer. He didn’t grow up in that era and hasn’t embraced it.

The fact is him and his group that he put up around him know what they are doing. He doesn’t have to upload the video himself to make up the idea of telling a story about going to rehab (at ‘popsump hills’) and murdering everybody over Twitter, which is what he is doing. That’s very clever.

I know he has a Twitter but he can’t use a computer. But he has something to use Twitter on and he surfs the web. That’s cool. I bet that he knows how to use a computer then. Eminem, I love you and I am proud of u.
