Fallen NFL Star Lawrence Taylor Arrested for Child Rape
Ex-Giants linebacker arrested accused of having sex with a minor.
Former New York Giants star Lawrence Taylor was arrested yesterday on charges of rape by officers from the New York Police Department.
Mr Taylor was a hero to legions of fans during his playing career in the 80s and early 90s, earning himself a place in the coveted Pro Football Hall of Fame and voted NFL defensive player of the year in 1981, 1982 and 1986.
The glittering professional career however has been marred by drug convictions in the past, and the latest allegations that Taylor paid $300 to have sex with a 16-year-old girl. Taylor was arrested early Thursday morning at 3:55 am from his room at a Holiday Inn. A judge set bail at $75,000.

The defensive legal team have strenuously denied all allegations on behalf of their client, but if convicted, Taylor faces four years in jail for having sex with a minor under the age of 17, and a further year for a charge of misdemeanour. Attorney Arthur Aidala commented that Taylor, “did not have sex with anybody”.
The incident occurred in March when the teenage girl went missing having run away from home. Having spent several weeks in the Bronx, the child was held against her will by a man identified as Rasheed Davis.
Davis allegedly mistreated the child before dragging her to Taylor’s hotel room and ordering the girl to have sex with the football star, according to the Associated Press. Davis was later arrested for unlawful imprisonment, assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
