Gamers Give Tim Schafer $400,000 Kickstarter Target to Make Adventure Game

Tim Schafer Makes New Adventure Game

Gamers from across the world have stumped up more than $400,000 for Double Fine Studios to make a new point-and-click adventure game.

The kicker is, they amassed this much money in just one day! If that’s not an endorsement of how much people still want adventure games, I don’t know what is.

Who better to explain the project than the man himself, creator of classics like Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango and Psychonaughts, in this hilarious introduction video:

Not only is it a noble undertaking to want to try and revive a genre that’s close to the hearts of so many gamers, this is also a novel way of going about it.

Perhaps the cleverest part of Schafer’s pitch is that it includes the donators in the creative process. An adventure game for gamers, collaboratively created with gamers, as the man said.

With the $400,000 reached in such a short period of time, every additional donation is now going to be invested in making the game even better. Tim, Ron and the rest of the team had better get cracking as the money, and the future fate of adventure gaming, is now in their hands.
