Glastonbury 2010 Sells Out in 12 Hours
Mad scramble for tickets as festival fans book online.
It took just 12 hours for the UK’s most popular summer music festival, Glastonbury to sell out as tickets for the 2010 festival went on sale yesterday.
The 2010 festival will be the ruby anniversary of Glastonbury, as it celebrates 40 years of music at the famous Somerset location at Pilton Farm.
In recent years Glastonbury suffered from a slump of bookings. Two years ago tickets were still being sold on the eve before the festival began to encourage music-lovers to camp out and experience the life music scene.
Last year tickets took weeks to sell out, but yesterday Glastonbury proved its enduring popularity by selling out in a matter of hours. The official Glastonbury website said in a statement: “Tickets for Glastonbury sold out just after 9pm on Sunday 4th October. Thank you to all those who bought tickets.”
After furore last year of ticket touting, Glastonbury’s organisers have taken steps to make sure the festival tickets could only be bought by people intending to attend the festival. Online registration, which has been in place for the last three years, was made more stringent to crack down on touting.
Disappointed fans that were unable to get their hands on the £185 passes for the three day festival may still get an opportunity to purchase a ticket as failed transactions and cancellations make more tickets available.
137,000 people turned up this summer to see Neil Young, Blur and Bruce Springsteen play, but organiser Michael Eavis told the Press Association that the 40th anniversary festival would be something special: “The expectations are really high. We’re trying to get the best headlines in the world.”
No big names have been confirmed yet for the festival. Let us know which bands and artists you’d like to see perform at Glastonbury 2010 with a comment below.

No need for a reason, just Bowie!
People are saying David Bowie is a possible headliner. Anybody know anymore on this? How amazing would that be?
