Jet2holidays gets Good Vibrations from extra bookings
New marketing strategy plays top summer tunes to encourage holiday bookings.
We all love summer songs, they pick you up and put you in a good mood.
Jet2holidays.com has taken this love of the music to the next level by employing buskers to play holiday songs around shopping centres.
The idea behind the sub-conscious marketing ploy is that the songs will make customers feel better and encourage them to book holidays on the strength of their happy feeling.
As Richard Bodin, Jet2holidays’ managing director explained: “The weather has been pretty bad so far this winter and there’s a lot of general doom and gloom around, so we wanted to do something a bit different to get the public back into the holiday spirit”.
Top of the holiday tunes is The Beach Boys’ classic summer feel-good hit Good Vibrations. Next up was Mr Eternal Sunshine himself, Cliff Richard with Summer Holiday.
Third place was secured by George Michael and his Wham! co-stars with Club Tropicana and the top 5 was rounded off with Ricky Martin Livin’ La Vida Loca and Grease duet Summer Nights. Buskers will be playing these songs promoting good vibrations of their own in Newcastle, Manchester and Leeds.
Providing the subliminal messaging tactic works, Jet2holidays could start buying-up top buskers across the UK. Sadly there were a few omissions from the list.
There was no place apparently for German band The Scorpions, with their hit Holiday. Nor did T-Spoons’ summer smash Sex on the Beach makes the cut.
