Manchester United Transfer Interest in Spain’s David Silva
Ferguson monitors Liverpool target winger Silva.
Manchester United may have found the much needed replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo that they need on the wing of their attack in the form of Spanish star David Silva.
The Valencia forward has been monitored by United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and said that a move to the Premier League would be “hard to resist”. Silva was a highly sought target for Premier League rivals Liverpool during the last transfer window.
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez was supposedly trying to lure Silva away from Valencia to play alongside Spanish teammate Fernando Torres, using the £30 million the club received for the overblown transfer fee of Xabi Alonso. Now United are also in the hunt for the player, also backed by the bulging purse strings since the £80 million transfer of Ronaldo to Real Madrid.
Silva commented on the attention he was receiving with humility: “It’s an honour for any player that a club of the prestige of Manchester United should follow them and that in itself is enormous praise,” quoted The Sun. Silva said for now he was committed to Valencia and dreamed of winning silverware in Spain but hinted, “in the future anything is possible”.
Whether the transfer goes ahead or not is more likely to be decided by Valencia than Silva himself. The player is undoubtedly a valuable asset on the pitch, but is of much greater worth to the Valencia accountants off the pitch. Cash-strapped Valencia are hungry for funds and will surely grasp the opportunity to make a sale to either Manchester United or Liverpool if the right deal is put on the table.
Silva will be coming to the Premiership; the question now is to which club and for how much?

Will be a terrific buy. Just what United need. David Villa will also do wonders.
Maybe he can finally bring some Silva-ware to Liverpool trophy cabinet.
If they get him they will do the same thing they did to Torres; overplay and exhaust him making him become fatigued, injured and eventually ‘Owen Hargreavesed’!
I, as a United fan, would certainly prefer to see David Silva come to United rather than Villa. I think Silva is more important right now as his service for Rooney and Berbatov, along with his own firing power, would be more value for money. We all know how much Villa could cost.
Just imagine Villa and Silva for Manchester United, and Ángel Di María also on cards!! Let’s just cross our fingers.
