Max Payne 3 Heats up Sao Paulo with Trophy Wife Kidnapping
Prepare for a more detailed delve into Max Payne 3’s story, courtesy of Rockstar’s new trailer.
We all knew that Max was getting into something heavy this time around, even for him! Street gangs, ex-cops, military, it’s all in a day’s work in the sprawling underworld of Brazil’s Sao Paulo.
Although Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne didn’t quite live up to commercial expectations due to its short length, I think the third title in the series is set to make up for its predecessor’s shortcomings. The “brutal yet beautiful” look and feel that won the earlier games such acclaim still seems to be present in Max Payne 3, with plenty more action slathered on top.
Everything from the arsenal of oversized weaponry to the liberal blood splashes indicate that Rockstar have successfully managed to reinforce the strengths of its forbearers.
What remains to be seen is how the 9 years between the second and third titles has aged Max. Will he be striding back bolder than ever to blaze away in bullet time? Or will he limp into a languid and lacklustre reception? My money is on the former.
