Michael Jackson reveals final 10 Thrilling UK Performances

Star entertainer prepares for his last ever UK shows at the O2 arena.

Do you remember the time when Michael Jackson was in the newspapers for all the right reasons?

In a more innocent age before we all became tabloid junkies and engrossed ourselves with the flaws of celebrities, legends like Michael Jackson were revered like gods, and rightly so.

Jackson didn’t want to just heal the world, he wanted to rule it; and his legions of fans were more than willing to pay homage to the King of Pop.

Michael Jackson may not be the man he was, deified in the childhood of many adolescents growing up in the 80s, but there is no denying that when Jackson decides he wants to be starting something, then people sit up and take notice.

And people did take notice, such was the hysteria caused last night, when Michael Jackson announced to a capacity crowd in London that he was going to play 10 nights at the O2 arena in Greenwich.

Although his fans will plead with Jackson not to stop till they’ve got enough of their idol, the singer announced, “this is it,” confirming it would be his last ever UK tour.

As always with Michael Jackson, the public appearance was a little awkward and far from simple. Fans were left waiting for over an hour and a half before the singer stepped out, only for him to say very little, and reveal not a lot.

“I am coming to London to play the songs my fans want to hear,” was about as much as Jackson would say, leaving the enchanted crowd somewhat bemused. Apart from repeated utterances that “this is it” and telling the British fans that he just couldn’t stop loving them: “I love you so much”, the throng got little else from Jackson.

Of course, last night’s announcement was little more than a teasing publicity stunt to raise expectations ahead of tickets going on sale next Friday. The truth be told, Jackson needs the money, it really is as black and white as that.

A chequered history of legal battles and out of court settlements, which forced him to sell his Neverland ranch last year, has left the American enigma in need of a financial boost.

Jackson is expected to net £15 million each time he steps onto the stage to rock with you, me and the thousands of faithful fans who still want to see if he has what it takes. The total of £150 million over the tour should stop pressuring Jackson’s finances for a while.

The overriding question though is if the tickets will be worth the small fortune fans will have to pay to see the moonwalking star, or is Jackson little more than a smooth criminal?

If you are worried that age may have dulled some of the Jackson magic, you can rest assured that you are not alone.

When Michael takes a look at the man in the mirror, he will not see the young 20-something he was in his prime, but a 50-year-old with a lot to prove.

Michael Jackson hasn’t been on tour for over 12 years. In the intermittent period, his health has been questioned a number of times, and one must wonder whether the entertainer will be able to sustain himself through ten gruelling shows.

Putting on a bad show will be more than enough to make Jackson fans want to scream and pull their hair out.

If the people behind the Jackson machine – the lawyers, and accountants and spin merchants – don’t really care about us, and they are only pursuing a fast buck, then Michael Jackson is in a dangerous jam.

If the Jackson team have any sense though, they will know how dear Michael Jackson is to his fans and the way he makes them feel when he delivers those iconic performances. The expectation, for Jackson’s last ever show in the UK will be monumental, vast, dare I say apocalyptic?

The weight of such expectation may be simply too much for the singer to bear, but I believe Jackson can beat it. If everything can come together in those 10 performances, then – for a short time – Michael Jackson can become the immortal he once was, and give us all the thriller we deserve.

Go and tour on the Moon.

  2. Steve Price says:

If he thinks so much of his fans, why are the tickets being priced so highly when normal hard working people cannot afford them so much for a recession?

Get a grip people it’s Michael Jackson, he can sell his tickets for whatever he likes, and as for us hardworking people who can’t afford it, get a better job.

I’ve wanted to see him live since I was a kid and would pay anything to do so.

And for those people who thought he was in London to announce the dates if you truly believe that was Michael Jackson you don’t deserve a ticket anyway. Stop moaning you freaks.

How much do the tickets cost?
I know that his performances are at the O2 arena, but where is the best palce to buy tickets?

Tickets are going on sale this Friday (13 March!) – read into that what you will.

Should cost between £50-75. Ticket touts are going to sell them much much higher though.

Michael Jackson is a gifted brilliant artist and we need his DNA cloned so that the world always have Michael Jackson.

We, his supporters and admirers, have to create NGO which brings back Michael Jackson to own his Neverland Ranch.

The world owe Michael Jackson billions of dollars because of his musical art work.

If each of his admirers sends one dollar to him he can be a billionaire.

The other option is Michael has to establish NGO which works on HIV prevention as the impact will bring a desired change for the world and benefit him too economically for the rest of his life.

I will rush and pay 100 pounds sterling for the 75 pounds sterling ticket.

There is no artist in the world like Jacko, whom I love.

Michael Jackson is a proud son and best artist of America.

His enemies are nothing compared to his lovers and supporters.

Selling his memorabilia and his ranch is dangerous and immoral which might bring negative images among his supporters.

America has to protect the only begotten King of Pop for the fame of the country and not to lose respect in front of the world community.

Americans have to re-establish Michael Jackson to his ranch and keep his memorabilia for the history of the country and to encourage the young generations for the future.

This is a man who made history and who brought a lot of happiness to his country and the world.

NGO has to be established to save this artist and the history made by him.

In 2001 I have been in Holland and I have seen the statue of Michael Jackson.

They told me that they love his art and has a respect to him.

But we Americans has to destroy such a brilliant artist, our own son?

How much money we throw away for unnecessary things?

Let us establish NGO as one of the commentators said and pay everything he owes for companies and he will be more important if we use him in different areas like prevention of HIV/AIDS here at home and worldwide.

I invite President Clinton to consider Michael Jackson on HIV/AIDS prevention because of his worldwide popularity.

My prayers is always with Jacko.

If Michael Jackson tours Europe and Asia with his group he can collect adequate money to buy his ranch back just to pay off for lifetime and he can develop his career too.

Here we Americans like his fun extremely too.

Jacko has to choose to work for a while and he can make more money than he had before.

If Michael Jackson sings Christian music and also establish church by accepting Jesus as his saviour he will benefit spiritually and economically.

He will have peace for the rest of his life.

Jesus is the best and only way to recover, even from death.

A different artist of all time, Michael can show repeatedly his songs and dances here at home and worldwide and can make more money than before.

I wish him all the best.
