Obama Jet Provokes 9-11 Panic

Possible terror attack turns out to be foolish “photo op”.

New Yorkers were panicked yesterday by the credible threat of a possible terrorist attack as a jumbo jet, trailed by a US fighter plane flew in low, close to Ground Zero.

The hallowed ground which marks the site of the fallen twin towers of the World Trade Center, was sent into a state of panic by the President’s approaching aircraft. After the attacks of 9/11 in 2001, the sight of Air Force One flying so low was a stark reminder of the horrific disaster for the occupants of the Manhattan skyscrapers.

Incredibly, the aircraft’s fly-by stunt was nothing more than a publicity-grabbing photo opportunity sanctioned by the White House. The lack of sensitivity displayed shocked the nation, as the public were not informed of the stunt which caused understandable fear of a second terrorist attack at the heart of America.

New York’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg said that he was “furious” that he had not been informed of the planned flight. In a press conference Mr Bloomberg said that the White House’s decision “defies imagination” and to put it mildly showed “poor judgement”. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) informed local authorities but failed to issue a warning to the general public.

On MSNBC’s live news feed, an impassioned Senator spoke out against the FAA, branding them as either being, “cruel or very very stupid”. Speaking to journalists the Senator said: “It is absolutely outrageous and appalling to think that the FAA would plan such a photo shot and not warn the public, knowing full well New Yorkers still have the vivid memory of 9/11 sketched in their minds.”

The Senator went on to describe how the actions taken by the FAA defied logic, by deliberately telling the authorities not to warn the public of the proposed low-level fly-by: “There would be no danger from warning the public, every danger from not warning the public,” he said.

Thankfully, reports indicate that no-one was hurt in the panic and confusion that ensued as buildings were evacuated during the 30-minute flight. The White House offered an apology in an official statement for any distress that may have been caused. President Barack Obama has not made any comment yet to the press.
