Schwarzenegger Slashes California Budget with Rambo Knife
When the Govenator Arnold Schwarzenegger decides he’s going to make budget cuts, he does so the only way he knows how – with a massive two-foot knife.
Ironically, the knife wielded by Governor Schwarzenegger would look more at home in the hands of Vietnam war veteran Rambo, a character played by Schwarzenegger’s rival muscle-bound action star Sylvester Stallone. Schwarzenegger addressed his Californian citizens wielding the weapon, with a very literal intent to slash the states budgets.
Lawmakers are due to vote later today on a new deal proposed by the Governor to make up for a $26.3 billion (£15.9 billion) deficit. The idea is to significantly cut state budgets in order to make huge savings across the local amenities. Governor Schwarzenegger thanked the Californian people via a special video on Twitter for all of their “great ideas” submitted with suggestions on how to make budget savings.
If the new plans go ahead, the states financial controllers will start implementing deep budget cuts in order to restore $15 billion (£9 billion) to the balance sheet. Since the beginning of the month, the local government has been forced to hand out IOU notes for tax refunds in order to stem the outflow of cash resources.
In order to deal with the cash shortfall, the state is expected to announce either sales of revenue anticipation notes or revenue anticipation warrants which should provide a healthy cash injection to calm nerves. Given the severity of the situation, many people questioned how Schwarzenegger could approach such a difficult subject with such nonchalance. The Govenator replied that although the budget cuts made him sad, he saw no reason not to make light of bad news.
