First new track for two and a half years from the Angels legend.

The new Robbie Williams single Bodies was played for the first time this morning on live radio as the former Take That singer prepares to enter the fray once again after a two year hiatus from the music industry.

The song, described by Virgin as an “apocalyptic conspiracy-laced” track is Williams’ first release since She’s Madonna hit the charts in March 2007. Robbie admitted to Radio One DJ Chris Moyles today about his nervousness at returning to music after his last album Rudebox flopped in the charts.

The new album, entitled Reality Killed The Video Star, is a chance for Robbie Williams to get back to his best and prove why he is one of the most successful male solo artists of his generation. At 35, Williams said he was at a turning point in his career as he spoke to Moyles on the Radio One Breakfast show: “This next record decides my path,” revealed Williams.

The latest offering, which gives a clear nod to the Buggles hit Video Killed The Radio Star shows the next evolution in the media frenzy that is modern celebrity culture. Williams said his forthcoming song Starstruck was an attempt to capture his feelings on “today’s modern fame epidemic”.

Conversation inevitably turned to the hyped rumour and hope of many fans that Robbie would one day rejoin fellow bandmates for a Take That reunion tour. Williams said that he had thought about singing with Take That again but had resisted the temptation when his last album was poorly received.

Williams wanted to avoid cynical criticisms of: “Oh look, he’s had to get up with these, now Rudebox has failed,” he told DJ Moyles. Robbie admitted that he would like to work with Take That again though, and that a reunion could well happen in the near future.
