Sony Announce 3D TVs Ready for June
Sony will be one of the first to sell 3D TVs, starting the next evolution of digital home entertainment.
Sony has revealed that its first 3D TVs will be available to buy on the Japanese market from 10 June 2010.
The company hopes that the innovation will attract technology early adopters and push Sony to the forefront of digital technology having taken something of a backseat against competitors such as Microsoft and Apple.

The TVs are expected to be priced at around $4,000 (¥370,000/£2,600) when first launched in Japan. US and European consumers can expect to see the first 3D TVs hit the shelves shortly after, with some sources claiming a joint June release, but nothing has been confirmed from Sony as yet.
Sky is anticipating a wave of 3D TVs before the end of the year, with its 3D packages available to book now, in preparation for the second live 3D football match ever shown, which will be aired tomorrow in selected pubs.

A small number of fans will be able to watch the Manchester derby between Manchester United and Manchester City this weekend in 3D, but Sky have said by the end of the year customers will be able to watch movies and sports in 3D from the comfort of their own homes.

Sony will be keen to a part of those early 3D screenings. The company also has plans to give away free 3D games for the PlayStation 3 in order to encourage buyers to purchase their 3D TVs. A new and improved version of the space racer classic Wipeout is likely to be the pick of the crop of 3D games.
The 3D push has started in home entertainment; get ready for the next evolution of digital technology.
