Sony Make Killing on Michael Jackson Album Deal
Seven year deal for 10 Michael Jackson albums could be worth $250 million.
Michael Jackson continues to generate vast sums of money despite his tragic demise last year as Sony has reportedly signed a $250 million deal to release 10 new Jackson albums over the next seven years.
Nine months since the death of the singer, there has already been a movie, album and song of new Michael Jackson footage dedicated to the This Is It tour which never happened. We’ve seen MJ perform live from beyond the grave in 3D at the GRAMMY awards, and a plethora of commemorative memorabilia and tribute paraphernalia.
It may come as little surprise then, that the Michael Jackson marketing machine continues to spin, wringing out every last drop of cash from consumers in the name of the fallen King of Pop.
According to reports from The Wall Street Journal, the Sony deal will ensure multiple Jackson albums until 2017 with a combination of brand new material which has never been heard before and more familiar tracks. Jackson apparently left enough new songs to fill at least three albums, one of which should be on the shelves by the end of this year.

Sony has already profited from Michael Jackson albums since the singer’s demise, selling 31 million albums. In the age of digital downloads, no other artist even comes close to these kind of sales figures, with US album sales plunging by 52 per cent since the turn of the century.
Perhaps this is why Sony are so keen to grab the Jackson licensing; as recording artists offer such diminishing returns, the King of Pop could be the last sure fire bet to bring in guaranteed sales. The man may be gone, but the Music Midas legend lives on.

Michael, I love you, I like the song. I know you are dead but I heard on CD family Michael Jackson.
