StarCraft 2 Hits Shelves 27 July 2010
Blizzard’s long-awaited strategy sequel is finally here.
Cancel your summer holidays because Blizzard has announced the official release date for StarCraft 2.
Blizzard announced yesterday in an official press release that the first instalment of StarCraft 2 – Wings of Liberty would hit stores worldwide on 27 July 2010.

StarCraft 2 has been in development for years, and Blizzard have delayed the sequel to the hugely successful StarCraft after other commitments for World of Warcraft expansions took scheduling priority. 12 years after the original StarCraft hit the shelves, Blizzard’s massively anticipated sequel is finally on its way.

“We’ve been looking forward to revisiting the StarCraft universe for many years, and we’re excited that the time for that is almost over,” commented Mike Morhaime, Blizzard’s co-founder. “Thanks to our beta testers, we’re making great progress on the final stages of development, and we’ll be ready to welcome players all over the world to StarCraft II and the new Battle.net in just a few months.”

The epic StarCraft 2 beta has gone through rigorous play-testing and tweaking from developers to get the balance of the three factions just right. Although Wings of Liberty will introduce players to the Terran single player campaign, the strength of StarCraft 2 will be in the multiplayer game through Blizzard’s revamped Battle.net.
The story campaign picks up where the Brood War expansion of the original game left off. The southern drawl of Jim Raynor will grace the eardrums of many an avid fan as players mine, build and kill their way through 29 missions.
Whatever you did have planned for late July/early August – it’s time for a re-think.
