The Fall of the Samurai Finishes Total War: Shogun 2
The Samurai will raise their katana one last time before the power of gunpowder sweep them aside forver.
Total War: Shogun 2 developers Creative Assembly leaped back in time with their DLC pack Rise of the Samurai, now they’re leaping forward by about 400 years. In Fall of the Samurai expansion pack, the player gets to witness the last gasp of these mighty warriors as their way of warfare is overtaken by rifles, cannon and Gatling machine guns.
Japan has opened up further to the rest of the world and the increasing flow of trade has also brought the ambitious powers of Europe and America sniffing around more closely. This time, it’s not just the other clans you’ll have to worry about, but the sneaky foreign devils too!
There’s a whole heap of technological advancements that will change the face of the battlefield and the grand strategic map too. With railroads criss-crossing the land, armies can assemble and strike in lightning speed. Ironclad warships can ravage coastal provinces and gun embankments offer protection from their bombardments.
Creative Assembly has also promised a complete overhaul of the Total War: Shogun 2 multiplayer system that, while it has incredible potential, is in dire need of ironing out some creases. For the first time, you’ll be able to choose multiple avatars, including 19 Century setting avatars with all new skill trees, retainers and collectable items.
Expect Fall of the Samurai to be released in March 2012, rounding off the Total War: Shogun 2 timeline.
