The highlights of this year’s E3 gaming extravaganza.
E3 2010 finished yesterday and it has taken a while to let the dazzling array of exciting games and developments truly sink in.
UPDATE: If this list of top trailers from 2010 takes your fancy, you can now check out the biggest of best trailers of E3 2011 right now.
Whilst motion control is clearly high on the agenda for both Microsoft and Sony this year, as well as the introduction of 3D gaming, the really exciting prospect from E3 2010 is the plethora of awesome games that will be hitting our shelves soon.
Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood
Introducing a multiplayer element into the cloak and dagger dealings of Assassin’s Creed 2 is going to be the main selling point of this sequel. Brotherhood is more of the same stealth kills that made Assassin’s Creed so enjoyable, but now you can stalk your friends too!
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
One for the nostalgia club, Castlevania will need to be impressive to compete in a flooded market of third-person action puzzlers. The Lords of Shadows reboot however looks well and truly up to the task of combing God of War non-stop action with Darksiders epic scope. Oh – and it’s voiced by Patrick Stewart – ’nuff said.
Star Wars: The Old Republic
The MMO Star Wars fans have been dreaming of. If the gameplay can match the quality of this cinematic then gamers are in for a treat. This could be the game to challenge Blizzard’s World of Warcraft for online supremacy.
Force Unleashed II
If The Old Republic simply isn’t enough to satiate your Star Wars yearnings then feast your eyes on the latest trailer for Force Unleashed II. Sith trainee turns to the light side – so you’re looking at an emo Jedi who can use Force lightning. What’s not to like?
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
The new Zelda game looks stunning. Fans are still waiting for the game in the franchise which can best Ocarina of Time, and initial impressions of Skyward Sword may finally deliver.
Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online
Games Workshop have high hopes for Dark Millennium Online. Warhammer Online’s fantasy setting didn’t do enough to differentiate itself from the other fantasy MMOs to make it a critical success, but the 40k universe provides quite a different offering. Fans of THQ’s Dawn of War series will relish this opportunity to immerse themselves in realm of Eldar, Chaos, Orks and Space Marines.
Killzone 3
With a formula that worked so well for Killzone and Killzone 2 there’s really very little reason to change things up much for the forthcoming Killzone 3 on PS3. The Helghast soldiers appear to have been transported to Hoth, and have been upgraded with a Kick Ass style jetpack with miniguns, but otherwise it’s business as usual.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
The third instalment in the Deus Ex franchise is set 25 years before the first Deus Ex game. The cyberpunk visuals drip quality in the trailer and should provide a stunning setting for this prequel.
Goldeneye 007
The game which made the N64 is being brought back to entertain a new generation of players on the Wii. Given that the title is still Goldeneye, it’s a shame that Brosnan has been unceremoniously dumped for Daniel Craig, even for the iconic dam dive, but the trailer promises to ignite a whole bunch of nostalgic players.
Enslaved
The team behind Heavenly Sword are back in post-apocalypse glory for this all-action escapade. This time around nuclear fallout is replaced with a desolate planet and two lone survivors battling against an army of mechs and robots.
Spider-man: Shattered Dimensions
A diversion from the norm for Spider-man games, Shattered Dimensions will allow players to jump, swing and web-sling their way through four alternate universes, each with a different incarnation of Spider-man. Each dimension is being leaked out slowly to generate hype for this original take on the Marvel franchise.

ZOMG, Enslaved is gonna be awesome *_*!
OMG OMG OMG Zelda is going to be AMAZING!
What about Portal 2?
That is by far the best demo I have seen so far.
No FFXIV trailer makes me
Can’t wait for Deus Ex 3!
Not Portal 2? This list FAILS! *Thumbs down*
Where are the trailers for Halo: Reach, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, and Marvel vs. Capcom 3?
They should have been on this list.
Lack of Portal 2 mention makes this post post invalid.
Not many articles are mentioning League of Legends in E3, even though they were on one of the front banners saying, “Can free games be good?”.
It’s even in the top 20 games at E3 out of about 150.
Seriously? Portal 2 should definitely be on the top.
Mass Effect 3 is going to be great!
