Total War Shogun 2 DLC Rises This September
We are mere weeks away from the Rise of the Samurai DLC for Total War Shogun 2.
What could be more awesomely old school than the 16th Century conflicts of Japan’s feuding Daimyos and their loyal Samurai? Why, it has to be the 12th Century conflicts of Japan’s feuding Daimyos and their loyal Samurai, of course!
Starting in the year 1175, the Rise of the Samurai DLC pack for Total War Shogun 2 will present the player with the familiar Total War gameplay in the same stomping ground of feudal Japan, but this time with a very different kind of army rampaging across it.
As the name suggests, in this time the Samurai are a relatively new breed of warrior, hence they are not the mainstay of an army but rather its elite. There are 16 new land units to explore and shape into a deadly and dynamic weapon, including such tasty units as warrior monks armed with devastating two-handed clubs and Foot Samurai who excel at both the disciplines of bow and sword.
As the video demonstrates, there are also the four new agents to incorporate into your arsenal. As the Total War series expands, I’m always heartened to see that its developer The Creative Assembly take as much care to fine-tune and experiment with the subtle nuances of the turn-based map campaign as they do with the furious real-time battles.
While a firm release date for the Rise of the Samurai Total War Shogun 2 DLC pack has not yet been announced, it’s definitely coming this month. So don your armor, string your bow, unsheathe your katana and prepare to rise and take Japan as your own.
Rise of the Samurai is only available as a DLC pack that requires the original game Total War Shogun 2 in order to play. Priced at $9.99 you’re getting a lot of content for your money with a full campaign, dozens of new land and sea units, four new agents and a new historical scenario.
