Transformers War for Cybertron Retro Robots Pwn Michael Bay Movies

New Activision game will be vastly superior to the disappointing live action movies.

True Transformers fans have finally got something to cheer about as the latest videogame, Transformers: War for Cybertron looks totally awesome, and has nothing to do with Michael Bay.

The first Transformers movie was barely acceptable with a clunky script, pointless sub-plots and far too much US military kicking the crap out of Decepticons. By the time the second movie came along, Michael “Can I get more explosions please” Bay had warped a franchise out of all recognition for those fans that held the original cartoon and comics so dearly.

As a point in case, the live action movies shifted the balance of power drastically to make the robots in disguise susceptible to human weaponry. The Transformers are supposed to be badass, and no amount “bringing the rain” should be able to floor them. That’s why disciples of the holy grail of Transformers can rejoice with Activision’s new game.

War for Cybertron goes back to the original story line set before the Transformers come down to Earth. As you can see from the new E3 trailer, players will love the faithful adaptation of Energon cubes and the look and feel of the robots, including Optimus Prime who is voiced by Peter Cullen. Classic Transformers including Grimlock, Jetfire, Shockwave, Thundercracker and Soundwave will all make an appearance in the game which looks phenomenal.

Players will be able to run through two different campaigns as the Autobots and the Decepticons as well as a plethora of multiplayer options for deathmatch, capture the flag and other games to keep you going once the single player is complete.

This is what Transformers was supposed to be like – Michael Bay had better start taking notes.

Not a fanboy of anything but how is this not Michael Bay? The game looks like it’s got MORE explosions and craziness going on than the movies.

Did you notice any humans in the game trailer? Nope.

No T&A and no Shea = Not Michael Bay

      Not like Michael Bay because
      1. You can actually see the action.
      2. The Decepticons have dialogue.
      3. There is no Sector bloody 7.

This game, unlike the movie, will feature The Transformers as characters, not just ‘robots blowing up stuff’. Shame on Michael Bay, and shame on Steven Spielberg for producing such claptrap in the first place. End rant.

I want a movie based on this story line and characters… not Transformers 3.

It belongs to Activision, they will never get my money again.

Wish they had the real Megatron voice but just having Soundwave makes up for it. If this was a TV show, I would watch it.

    Holy shites.

They are keeping elements of the original transformers series but are incorporating the “Transformers: The War Within” comic-based series (which is terrific!). This looks great, and I saw Soundwave (undoubtedly one of the best Transformers) making energon cubes! Not to mention Omega Supreme (Autobots heavy hitter) and Trypticon (the Decepticons behemoth)… I hope Devastator makes an apperance so that I can forget that mess that Michael Bay made.

Hope it’s good but they look like Duplo versions of Transformers.

Since this is pre-dating their arrival on Earth, they don’t look like Earth vehicles, so they had to remove or mask any “earthly” influences but still be recognizable. They did a fantastic job, I can’t wait to get the game, and I’ll probably collect the game-based figures… This is coming from someone who never watched any cartoon version or owned a single figure for the franchise. This game has introduced me to Transformers and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Since Activision did such a good job with the CoD series, I have very high expectations with this! Here’s hoping it’s not an epic fail as it has so much potential. :-)

    It’s amazing…

So maybe this is just because my knowledge of the Transformers mythos is based almost entirely off the movies, but if this is before they come down to Earth, how come they look like cars and fighter jets and shit already, even though they copied those forms from cars and jets on Earth?

Actual GOOD robot designs – not like the crap Bay came up with.

These developers are FANS of the original – this has got to be good. Go High Moon Studios!

    Bumblebee is the best.
