Singer Chris Brown has had surprise resurgence in fortunes piggy-backing on the success of a huge viral hit of a wedding video posted on YouTube.
Entertaining wedding videos are hardly a new thing, we’ve been laughing at unusual amateur wedding clips on You’ve Been Framed since the early 90s; but the appeal of YouTube has given the entertaining wedding video a new lease of life.
However, surely no-one could have predicted the phenomenal success that the entrance video of Jill and Kevin’s wedding would have caused. The JK Wedding Dance was posted on 19 July, and since then has been watched by nearly 13 million people (12,822,000 at last count). The video, which depicts wedding guests dancing down the aisle in flamboyant groove style, for whatever reason has captured the hearts and minds of the online community.
Benefiting from the viral success are Chris Brown and Apple. The video is set to Chris Brown’s track Forever, which has since become on of the most downloaded songs on the internet, hitting the number 4 spot in the iTunes chart. Considering Forever, was originally released over a year ago in April 2008, Mr Brown must be delighted with the unexpected windfall.
Apple will also have benefited from the surge in track downloads from iTunes, not to mention Google who get a cut of revenue sales through its click-to-buy affiliation scheme. “It was a win-win-win for us, the labels and Apple,” commented Jordan Hoffner, YouTube’s director of content partnerships in an interview with The Washington Post.
The only people who don’t seem to have benefited financially from the viral clip are the happy couple themselves, but then they have the riches of love and contentment, so everybody’s happy.

It’s a shame, he got the prize of popularity after hitting Rihanna. Well, I guess that if Rihanna didn’t even want to testify against him, then he gets the best part. This is the proof.
