Why Rafa Benitez is running out of time!
Liverpools disastrous season could be over in the next two games.
Rafael Benitez’s reign as Liverpool manager is in danger as early as November.
Liverpool play two games in the next week which could define their season and Benitez’s grip on the club. Tomorrow Liverpool play against Manchester City in the Premier League before a midweek clash with Debrecen in Europe. They are also relying on Lyon not losing to Fiorentina in Italy to have any chance of qualifying for the last sixteen of the Champions League.
The Reds dismal European form has coincided with five defeats already in the Premier League. They have endured a horrendous run in which they have won one game out of the last nine.
Having been knocked out of the Carling Cup, it could be suggested the only trophy they could realistically win is the FA Cup.
The club’s owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks have so far stood firm, but Benitez remains under pressure.
Recently, some of Benitez’s decisions have frustrated Liverpool fans. His persistence to use zonal marking has been costly, with 18 goals conceded in 12 games, many from set plays. Making bizarre substitutions at untimely interventions in matches have also drawn criticism.
The simple fact is Rafa has enjoyed 5 years as Liverpool boss and has been backed with a lot of money on transfers to build a squad to challenge the other members of the top four. He has made great signings, but Benitez has brought in and let go a growing number of quality strikers including Craig Bellamy, Peter Crouch and Robbie Keane.
The reality is Liverpool lack squad depth and are missing match winners that can produce when Steven Gerrard and Torres are not. They lack natural wingers and have few attacking options when Torres is out injured. The priority in the January transfer window would surely be a striker, but this would be unnecessary had Benitez kept any one of Keane, Crouch or Bellamy at Liverpool.

How can this even be called news of any kind? I find it funny that the author could even use the words “The simple fact is… ” anywhere in this so-called “news article”. The fact is this is the same old, biased, unfactual crap.
so please shut up.
With all big players out, Arsenal still have a fighting chance to win the Premiership plus bag the Champions League. Hope, pray, then loudly say, “Come on!” This is our time. HENDO ABERDEEN.
