X-Men Star and Bond Make Last Stand on Mobile Interruption
Audience member blasted for ringing mobile during play performance.
Two Hollywood giants Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig deftly ridiculed a theatregoer during a live stage performance of A Steady Rain when their act was interrupted by a mobile phone.
Best-known for his hot-headed character Wolverine in the X-Men films, Jackman managed to keep his cool as he addressed the squirming audience member directly.
In the manner of his hard-bitten American cop character Jackson drawls: “You wanna get that? You wanna get it? Grab it – I don’t care.”
As the ringing continued, Jackman continued to berate the individual: “Come on, just turn it off, unless you got a better story. You wanna get up and tell your stories?”
When the irritating mobile went off a second time, Jackson laughed: “Don’t be embarrassed! Just grab it, we’ll hold on,” which was met with much laughter from the audience. Craig delivered the knock-out line: “Denny took it hardest,” an ironic reference to Jackson’s character, whose flawed hero cracks when their friendship ends in the play.
Kudos should be given to both actors for halting the play to address a problem that has been plaguing theatre houses for years, but has sadly become a commonplace occurrence. Despite continual reminders to switch off mobile phones, some people are simply incapable of being disconnected from the world for a couple of hours.
The audience member in question should feel suitably embarrassed, but considering the faux pas, the individual is lucky the director hadn’t chosen Christian Bale and Russell Crowe in the leads of Denny and Joey. The resultant clash could have made for a very different interruption altogether.
Are you glad Jackman and Craig made a stand against the perpetrator? Who would you have preferred to see rebuke the mobile user? Send us your thoughts with a comment below!

I think they did the right thing!
A lot of people think rules are for someone else.
I hope that person felt embarrassed.
